6th Arte Laguna Art Prize in Venice

The 5th Arte Laguna Art Prize winner Patty Carroll’s photography series, Domestic Bliss has captured my eyes quite for a long time. So I decided to be the part of this international art prize. And then, the great pleasure!  My photograph from the series, Serenity was selected as the finalist out of 7000 applicants. I made an excuse for a Italy trip and headed to the exhibition opening in Venice. The jealousy of the beauty of this water city named it also as the spoiled tourist city. I arrived at the exhibition venue, Nappe Arsenal by a private boat, which was organised by the Arte Laguna. The place reminded me of the 17th Biennale opening night at Cockatoo island in Sydney with the extra delightful moment of walking on the red carpet and the photo flash. I was happy with the venue with its rustic texture of the dilapidated building as I always wanted to show this particular photograph in this kind of space. After the celebration of diverse artworks from around the globe, including sculptures, videos, installations and performance arts,  the boat guided the artists to the Red Party at the gorgeous ‘Palazzo Zenobio’. I remember playing the grand piano after several glasses of champagne surrounded by the overwhelming frescoes and had a lost-along-the-water chat with Italian friends crossing several small bridges on the way to the hotel.
