Thanks to Marco, we landed on La Montagna for another special aperitif. Two guys were chatting in front of the closed tavern ‘Trattoria da Vasco’ and Marco insisted to open for the special guest who came all the way from Australia. Amazingly this absurd request was accepted easily and we were heartily treated with mouth-watering handmade prosciuttos and salamis. The owner and amazing chef called Vaschino even offered me several special shots from the bar shelf. I could see this hearty and funny Vaschino’s fame on the wall along with caricature and newspaper articles. The pleasant laugh busted when Vaschino was really talking on the ancient phone which we thought it was an antique decoration.
Aperitivo: Aperitif : Alcoholic drink before a meal for the appetite.
It was one of delightful life styles in Italy I found about. I was really addicted to this late afternoon drink which usually come along with light tapas feeling like having bourgeois high tea.
It was another aperitif driving excusing the sightseeing or vice versa. Alessia wanted to me taste the local Piadina at the mobile bar ‘Da Massimo’ on the hill. Along with Tuscany wine while we were enjoying the conversation about the owner’s consideration of expanding this business in Bondi Australia where his relative lives, local people were coming to have this Da Massimo specialties. Construct workers, professor, local farmers were all there enjoying this afternoon delight with happy chat, making a joke with this tourist’s gesso leg. How can’t I love this aperitivo time!
